No one warned me how overstimulating motherhood would be.
The baby is crying.
The kiddo is screaming.
The TV is blaring.
The dishwasher is running.
The microwave is beeping.
The phone is ringing.
The dishes need washed.
The floors need swept.
The laundry needs folded.
The food needs cooked.
The trash needs emptied.
Our kids need us and our husbands need us and our families need us and our friends need us.
Even the dang dog needs us.
The calendar is full and so is our brain.
And sometimes, well, we just can’t keep up anymore.
And the tears come.
And the outbursts come.
And the desperation for just one dang minute of peace comes.
And from the outside looking in, we may appear angry. Grumpy. Impatient and ungrateful.
But really, we’re not any of those things.
We’re just overwhelmed.
Being a mama is the biggest and best blessing of my life – but it’s also the most challenging.
And although it may seem unwarranted, sometimes a mama just needs an extra dose of grace in the middle of her meltdowns,
because no one ever warned her just how overstimulating motherhood would be.
