I (try to) plan my chores around the baby’s sleep schedule.
And boy is it SO easy for me to get frustrated on days she refuses to nap.
For instance, today.
The only way I could get her to sleep was if I was holding her.
And I’m not talking “let’s rock her until she falls asleep and then gently set her down and sneak out.” Oh, no.
I’m talking “might as well recline and get comfy, Sky, ‘cause you’re gonna be here a while.”
And in the middle of this snuggle session, I found myself looking around the house, feeling guilty and angry at all the things I wasn’t getting done.
“Look at these nasty floors.”
“This kitchen is such a mess.”
“I still have three loads of laundry to do!”
And so on and so forth.
But then, I felt a gentle tug on my heart, and heard God whisper, “but look at what you ARE accomplishing.”
And I was instantly reminded of what’s much more important than my “to do” list… HER.
So maybe the dishes aren’t done and the laundry isn’t folded; but my baby girl is comforted, loved, and safe.
My hands couldn’t have done anything more productive if I tried.
