The Bless in the Mess

The Bless in the Mess

Motherhood is messy.

It’s so full of joy one minute and a total disaster the next.
It’s laughing so hard you cry and then crying because everything is so hard.
It’s kisses and cuddles and tantrums and tears all rolled together and sometimes, well, it’s just too much.

And we start to wonder.
Are we even cut out for this?
Are we really a good mom?
Are our kids getting the life they deserve?

I think the enemy preys so hard on mamas because he knows the great work we’re doing for the kingdom. Raising up the next generation is not an easy job, mama. And the evil one knows it.

But let me encourage you, sweet friend. If you’re feeling down and defeated, fighting guilt and shame for how the day went, can I let you in on a little secret?

I am right there with you.

I’m writing these words from that exact place of discouragement, beating myself up for all the ways I let my girl down today.

But the thing that we need to remember in these moments is this: the fact that you’re even wondering if you’re doing enough for your kids is the very evidence that proves that you already are.
Because yes, motherhood is messy. It’s full of impatience and imperfection. Hardship and heartache. Defeat and despair.
But you know what else it’s full of?

God’s grace.

Grace that is sufficient for us. Grace that perfectly covers our imperfections. Grace that is more than enough because the truth is, we will always fall short; but that’s okay, because He never will.

He is enough. So, we’re enough.
And although we’ll never be perfect moms, because of Him we’ll always be the best mom for our littles. Imperfect mess and all.
