Parenting toddlers is hard.
Like, every person who’s raised a two year old deserves a plaque. Holy smokes, the “terrible twos” are SO REAL.
My sweet girl’s been hitting this behavior HARD these last couple of weeks, and today was no exception. The second I told her it was nap time… instant meltdown.
Kicking, screaming, the whole works. Who knew two words could cause so much chaos?!
Well folks, I was honestly about to lose my you-know-what. Some days I just don’t handle these tantrums very well. But thank GOODNESS my God ALWAYS knows how to handle things. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and watched Him intercede as she slowly calmed down, snuggled into me, and passed out.
Wow, God, you’re awesome. I mean, seriously, he’s the coolest, because I honestly can’t remember the last time my girl fell asleep on me. It’s been a WHILE.
But this just goes to show you that whenever we call upon our Heavenly Father for help, he always answers us. He knows our thoughts and feels our pain and has understanding and compassion for our emotions.
And the fact that the God of the universe cares about my sanity so much to help put my over-tired child to sleep is pretty dang amazing if you ask me.
So mama, if you find yourself on your last straw today, be encouraged in this – you’re not alone in your feelings, you’re stronger than you think, and God is right there with ya, holding your hand and making a way through the chaos.
PS- if you’re currently raising a toddler, consider this post your “plaque of awesomeness.” You deserve it!
