“How do you get up so early?” my sweet girl asked me as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes one school morning.
I smiled as I stared at our scratched-up farm table where my Bible and journal sat.
“Well, baby girl, the truth is, I don’t always do this very well. But I sure do try, because I’m a much better version of myself when I start my day with Jesus.”
And as the words came out of my mouth, it became very clear to me that I’m not just doing this for myself. I’m doing it for her.
Because she’s watching me.
She notices when I get up to read my Bible.
She wonders why I do it.
She sees the highlighted verses and the sticky notes covered in sharpie.
She reminds me that this farm table isn’t just a farm table.
It’s holy ground.
These morning meetings aren’t just laying the foundation of my own day or my own life. They’re also laying the foundation of her own faith walk.
And that is more than worth waking up for.
